Khaled Selim receives FEMS Outstanding Early Career Microbiologist Award

12.07.2023 CMFI News

Khaled Selim is awarded the Outstanding Early Career Microbiologist Award of the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) due to his groundbreaking discoveries regarding signaling mechanisms and the function of carbon dioxide metabolism in cyanobacteria. The jury based its decision, in addition to his outstanding publication record, on his teaching experience, the award of numerous scientific prizes, his numerous presentations at national and international conferences, and his work as a reviewer for several journals.

About the FEMS Outstanding Early Career Microbiologist Award

The FEMS award program recognizes outstanding achievements in microbiology and their contribution to society every two years. In particular, this award is intended to recognize young scientists who have achieved outstanding (published) research results. Nomination may be based on a single, exceptionally significant achievement or on the totality of a series of exemplary achievements.
Microbiologists working in any field in microbiology within 5 years of obtaining their highest qualification/PhD and who are already members of a FEMS member society are eligible.
