Moritz Koch wins Matariki contest

Moritz Koch, former PhD student with CMFI-PI Karl Forchhammer, won the Matariki Three Minute Thesis contest.

Nachdem Dr. Moritz Koch, Alumnus des Interfakultären Instituts für Mikrobiologie und Infektionsmedizin Tübingen (IMIT), im Oktober 2021 den 1. Platz beim Three Minute Thesis Wettbewerb des Matariki Netzwerkes belegt hatte, konnte er am 17. Januar 2022 persönlich die Auszeichnung entgegennehmen. 

 

Im Kleinen Senat der Universität Tübingen gratulierten Prof. Dr. Peter Grathwohl (Prorektor für Forschung und Innovation) sowie Prof. Dr. Thilo Stehle (Dekan der Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät) dem Preisträger und überreichten ihm das Zertifikat für den 1. Platz. Beim Three Minute Thesis Wettbewerb präsentieren Promovierende der Mitgliedsuniversitäten des Matariki Netzwerks (https://www.matarikinetwork.org/) ihre Forschungsthemen einem fachfremden Publikum in 3-minütigen Videos. 

Moritz Koch überzeugte die Jury mit einem Beitrag zu seinem Promotionsthema “Using metabolic engineering strategies to improve phototrophic cyanobacteria for the production of sustainable, biodegradable bioplastics”. Die Universität Tübingen stellte damit direkt im ersten Jahr ihrer Teilnahme am Wettbewerb den Gewinner. Wir gratulieren!
